Model optimization and manufacturing - a story of design involvement & engineering experience
At the Outset
With the given large stl files, our task was to make the file 3D printable to different sizes for display and online viewing.
The Challenge
Optimizing a 3D design assembly file of size > 2GB containing over 1000 components for manufacturing. Examining the model and fix any issues.
Our Approach
We built a specalised software integration that reduces file size with negligible changes, identifiy and resolve areas for ease in 3D printing workflow, adding textures and colors for web view
Our Process
We began by understanding the assembly and the critical parameters that should be resolved step by step. We categorized the process into planning stage, manual remodel areas identifiable by the human eye, advanced automatic remodel by our algorithms, final clean-up and preparation for 3D printing.
The planning stage helped us keep the best quality with faster workflow. We divide the components into smaller pieces for faster printing and easy assembly.

The Result
This beautiful engine is displayed in the experience zone at Bosch, Bengaluru and has lead to the further development of multiple replicas that my client proudly uses for events and business development meetings. In fact, the engine today is also used as an educative tool to train employees on various industry practices and assemblies.
